Andrew Parker (POWnft) - Coding a synthesiser from scratch in JavaScript!
Tuesday May 25, 2021
Tuesday May 25, 2021
Andrew Parker is the man behind POWnft.com, the worlds first mineable NFT. The tokens are visual representations of atoms, derived from Javascript code that Andrew has written.
The past few months Andrew and I have worked together on adding a layer of generative music to these Atom tokens, which has ended up being one of the coolest and most educating projects I've ever worked on. We have built a synthesiser and generative music creator purely in JavaScript code, from scratch.
Andrew has a lifetime of coding experience and I the same with music. Combining those skills and the fact that we are brothers - inherently sharing particular styles and methods of critical thinking - we were able to pull off a mission that we both did not know would be possible.
In this episode we get deep on the reasons why POWnft uses JavaScript & HTML to generate its tokens, the challenges we faced in making the music generator, blockchain tech explained, how we built a synthesiser in JavaScript and some great segments on coding in general and why everyone should know coding for the world we live in today.

Based in Los Angeles, California, Kate Stein is an up & coming producer, excellent tune selector on the decks, and all round legendary human.

Sunday Apr 18, 2021
Chris Larsen, aka Diffraction aka Aeonian is a Melbourne DJ and producer, and someone who has always been a gracious and genuine human being to interact with.
I first met Chris at the inaugural Ergot Gathering in 2016, and we have forged a solid friendship ever since.
This was a very loose and casual chat, but we did end up covering a lot of ground including his upbringing and genesis as a graffiti writer, his pathway to music, and what life is like being a new dad.
I also candidly delve deep into my own psyche and emotions to fill you in on how I have been, what I've been up to, and why the episodes have not been as frequent lately.

Wednesday Mar 03, 2021
Cam Volkiene is an Australian DJ and aspiring producer representing Higher Recordings & Bassic Records. Cam incorporates live electronic drumming in his performances, and has been taking the dance-floors on epic journeys for the past few years.
Since being a member of Higher Recordings family in its early days, Cam and I have forged a solid friendship through touring, travelling and growing as artists together.
It was great to have a proper catch up as we hadn't hung out for almost a year to the day at the time of this recording.
We enjoyed an in depth chat about ego and self awareness, what Cam is doing music wise, cold water showers, life on the central coast, and many other interesting topics.
Stick around till the end to hear a track by one of our favourite Australian producers, Apex.
